My family is anti conditions of blacks in the American south type of literature I was taught to avoid being one of those black people who obsess over slavery and focus on our future Being born in Canada and growing up in an East AfricanWest Indian family there was a belief that the American slave experience was somehow not our experience With that said the only reason I read this book is because the author is from Cana
