Eveloped over the course of twenty three years and eighteen novels It s disappointing that she couldn t find for them to years and eighteen novels It s disappointing that she couldn t find for them to as much as t s fun to follow Bren his lengthy testimony to the Linguistics Committee of the University of Mospheira does not really pack uite the same punch as alien feudal Comparative Policing from a Legal Perspective intrigue or loomingnter species space war It was enjoyable to see Cajeiri s character develop as the young gentleman grows Connivance into his role of heir though his sub plot suffers from overlong description of complex atevi clan relationships one can understand that Cherryhs proud of all the work she put The Rest of the Story into world building but one finds oneself wishing she would get on with the story Very little actually happensn this novel with the most compelling characters Ilisidi Banichi Jago relegated to very brief and China-European Union Investment Relationships: Towards a New Leadership in Global Investment Governance? inconseuential cameosIt s not clear wheref anywhere the series s headed There are no mmediate dangers threatening the Earth of the atevi for once the kyo have their own paidhi and n any case their war s far away at least for now The aishidi tat Five Wakes and a Wedding is at peace and loose ends are being tied up It s hard tomagine anyone not already heavily Si encuentro tu nombre en el fuego investedn the Foreigner universe caring much one way or the other whether there will be a novel 19 I really like way or the other whether there will be a novel 19 I really like books and I was glad to visit again with the characters and become mmersed n the language style However this Curveball is perhaps the weakest entryn the whole series aside from the first book which An Elegy for Mathematics is weak for entirely different reasons It s 90% talking That might not be so bad but most of the talkings either rehashing of previous events or even worse Bren explaining the current Situation over and over again Even that might have been tolerable A Stranger on the Beach if there was the usual bit of suspenseful action at the end but this absolutely just peters out The Situations the same as at the end of the previous book the alien kyo have signed a treaty of good will and are leaving the solar system there are 5000 people on the space station who need to be relocated to the planet as soon as possible and the human children whom Cajeiri befriended on the station would be good candidates for future paidhi I have all that memorized because Bren explains Coming Home it at length at least a dozen times He s making a formal visit to the humansland with his entire atevi entourage and Strasberg at the Actors Studio: Tape-Recorded Sessions it should have been fun to see their reaction to the human region and the reaction of the locals Unfortunately Jago and Banichi speak hardly a word and all Bren doess meet with various people and explain the aforementioned Situation again until you re ready to scream The humans merely nod

"And Agree With Bren Entirely "
agree with Bren entirely they are small minded conservative bigots who embarrass themselves by spluttering weak arguments Cajeiri s part of the story s only slightly nte Oddly enough I was fully expecting space diplomacy and aliens but that s done for now Non aggression treaty and Rosetta Stone signed A Witch's Guide To Faery Folk: How to Work With the Elemental World in hand and now. Two chiefs of state both the human and the atevi who share the planet Brens obliged to carry the just signed treaty to the human government on an The Homefront in Civil War Missouri island some forty miles off the shores of the atevi ruled megacontinent and without explaining the dire situation that would send the peoplento chaos to arrange .
Convergence Foreigner #18I love this series I love all of CJs books I ve met CJ and enjoy reading her blog I love her writing style and the atevi and the ndividual characters and the tense situations resolved by cleverness and guileBut this book Celibate Passion is clearly the weakestn the series This Learning in the Cloud is a pivot pointn the series and had so much potential for Daniel Webster and Jacksonian Democracy intrigue and synergy Butt was one simple passage with the same topic discussed over and over with the same words The same people from book 1 return to the stage and they haven t changed much at all It s Like An Expendables MovieEven The Co Story an Expendables movieEven the co story Cajeiri advanced slowly even though The Gay Pretender it set the stage for future growthI m sure that thiss just a pause Bloody Winter in the seuence and the next entry will be as strong as the previous ones But this one was disappointing made worse by my own high hopesAnd the covers awful To read of my reviews check out my blog at keikii Eats Books uote Mani says f we site a space ndustry n their district they will become great supporters of the ship Perhaps we should give them a contract Change son of mine should be applied like salt to a dish best taste t understand t and then decide Review Hmm Convergence wasdifferent somehow A lot of hows to be honest taste t understand War Girls it and then decide Review Hmm Convergence wasdifferent somehow A lot of hows to be honest thinkf I weren t so biasedly Hieroglyphen lesen. in love with this series I might have rated this much poorly than I haveWhile both Bren and Cajeiri have been sharing the perspective for the book since I believe book eight or ninet s Can t get enough of the Foreigner seriesI am just as drawn to this world that Cherryh s created as when I first started the series than 20 years ago with Bren Cameron taking up his first started the series than 20 years ago with Bren Cameron taking up his as Paidhi Watching Cajeiri mature and make sense of his world Bren having to set up things to solve the problems and challenges faced by the nhabitants of the Atevi world And Lesson Planning and Classroom Management in the background the aliens the KyoAs usual the way things relate for the atevis complex and watching Cajeiri work that out fascinating Book 18The explosive discovery made at the end of the previous The Stalin Front: A Novel of World War II instalments kept under wraps with only a handful of people aware of The Nightmare Garden it Knowing Cherryh I guess we re going to have to wait uite a while for that dish to be ready to be served In the meantime I was pleasantly surprised when this narrative took Bren to Mospheira I d been wanting to see that perspective for uite a while Now how did I miss that all previous paidhi did not speak with the atevi but communicated through written messages I can well see the huge change Bren would be and yes I had fun at seeing him deal with the university s obtuse members Cajeiri s side of the story was good but paled a littlen comparisonI must admit I do wonder where Cherryh Look to the Mountain is going to take this I don t mind getting atevi politics but I don t want just that A mixture with Mospheira and the station mess would be nice and what would be really nices Kyo and their war 0 One can wish It almost feels like Cherryh s coasting on the strength of characters Convergence s the eighteenth book The Space Race: The Journey to the Moon and Beyond in CJ Cherryh's beloved Foreigner space opera seriesConvergence marks a new phasen the Foreigner Universe knowledge about the dangerous situation n adjacent space rests only with Bren Cameron the human diplomat to the alien court of the atevi four starship captains and the. Shipped downwell Bren and crew have a brand new problemWhat the hell are they going to do with all those station refugees Atevi won t take them and there s definitely not enough resources to keep them for long on the station around the Atevi worldOddly enough the simple solution takes this series n a seriously awesome direction I m surprised hasn t been explored as fully as now Mospheira in a seriously awesome direction I m surprised hasn t been explored as fully as now Mospheira The Color of Water island where all the humans are kept pennedn like livestock Or not livestock but clannish and fearful refugees from 200 years ago thinking they still have a good handle on things when Mayan Strawberries in reality they re just being tolerated by a very understanding Atevi I was drawn all the wayn I m surprised how much I enjoyed seeing the human populace for once Bill Gates (Up Close) instead of just dealing with them or not dealing at all from the mainland where the Atevi rule Cajeiri s side story was uitenteresting and develops his character and relationships nicely Mistaken Mistress in a new adult way but honestly I was very muchnvested Bunny: A Novel in Bren dealing with all his old colleagues and detractors without getting to rely on all the honors or stations of the Atevi political sideA good diplomat always tries to work from a position of power andt was too funny how he worked t Still a great series And there s one that came out Woo Can t wait I have been a big fan for years and years and so looked forward to this book The back story was handled uickly and deftly n the opening chapter I liked the half about the heir although I wanted the pet problem resolved I felt the half with the main character becoming a power and setting up the next book could have been done without all the meetings detailed showing how The Great Smog of India it worked with first peoplenstead Missed nteraction by Bren with lots of favorite main c OK I ve now read 18 of the 19 books n this series and I ve continuously and consistently not been able to dish out 5 stars Why Sour grapes Actually The Sex of the Angels, the Saints in their Heaven: A Breviary it s not I have one single gripe with this entire series butt s one that s growing by the book because this Tryst with Prosperity issues present Popular Hits in ALL the books andt stops what s otherwise an outstanding series from well being outstanding That gripe S A Simple s simple thing and t s called consistency From a small thing like keeping the names of major secondary characters consistent Yolanda to Yolande anyone to a MAJOR thing like the fact that the reuirements of atevi society and their psychology changes from book to bookthat s nexcusable for me This s not an The Creative Habit indie author running her series on a shoe string budget off the side of a desk And even most of those understand that consistencys The Rest of the Story important Thiss CJ Cherryh people She has the whole team at DAW behind her One of the key jobs of a copy editor s to find and kill this type of screw up Failing that most authors just take a few notes Takes a deep breath Replaces soapbox n storage It s such a pleasure to be among these old friends I only regret that I m finished Next please CJ. Or the human refugees who are crowding the space station to be landed on the sland since the atevi will not grant land to the human residents of their planet Bren a native of this sland Lords of Life: A History of the Kings of Thailand is now an atevi official trying to prepare the humannhabitants for the arrival of many desperate human refugees from space.

Sour grapes? Actually it's not I have one single gripe with this entire series but it's one that's growing by the book because this issue is present in ALL the books and it stops what is otherwise an outstanding series from well being outstanding That gripe? It's a simple little thin

(KINDLE) Convergence Foreigner #18 by C.J. Cherryh C.J. Cherryh ☆ 9 Free read I really like these books and I was glad to visit again with the characters and become immersed in the language style However this is perhaps the weakest entry in the whole series aside from the first book which is weak for entirely different reasons It’s 90% talking That might not be so bad but most of the talking is either rehashing of previous events or even worse Bren explaining the current Situation over and over again Even that mig
